We believe that education is the key to beautiful, healthy smiles. Our goal is for our patients to be informed decision makers and fully understand any oral health issues they may face.

Dr. Freeman
John Freeman, DMD is the son of Dr. Mark Freeman, founder of Dr. Freeman and Associates, which later became Old Dominion Family Dental. Dr. Freeman was born and raised in the Richmond area and graduated from Bridgewater College in 2014. In 2019, Dr. Freeman received a doctoral from Tufts University in Boston. In 2019, Dr. Freeman and his wife, also a Richmond native, moved back into the area and Dr. Freeman began practicing at Old Dominion Family Dental in August of 2019. In his free time, Dr. Freeman enjoys traveling with his wife, golfing, and taking care of his lawn.
Our Hygienists

Courtney
Courtney attended Trinity Episcopal and then studied at James Madison University. After graduation, Courtney attended the Medical College of Virginia School of Dental Hygiene and graduated in 1982. She worked for several different offices in the Richmond area before starting with Dr. Freeman in 1994. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and relaxing with her family at Lake Gaston.

Terry
Terry grew up in Hanover County and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dental Hygiene. She truly enjoys the process of learning and working closely with patients in her professional life.
Outside of work, she spends much of her spare time on a farm in Hanover surrounded by animals. She is also deeply involved in the community of show dogs, both as a breeder and as a judge for American Kennel Club dog shows across the United States.

Susie
Our Dental Assistants

Sarah
Sarah joined the office in 2025 after moving back to Richmond from St. Petersburg, Florida. When she’s finished showing pictures of her dog Cooper to patients, she’s happy to provide gentle and efficient chair-side assistance to Dr. Freeman. Outside of the office, she likes to spend her time swimming, listening to The 1975, and tending to her garden.

Madison
Madison joined the office full time in 2026 after her internship with us throughout 2025. While she works towards her Dental Hygiene license, she assists Dr. Freeman chair-side with her pleasant and helpful attitude. When she’s not bouncing around the office singing her favorite country songs, she likes to go shopping with her friends, visit her family’s farm in Lynchburg, or try a new restaurant in Richmond with her fiance, Logan.

Christie
Christie is a native of RVA. After graduating from Trinity Episcopal, she attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. It was here, in the pursuit of her Biology Degree, that she first met her future husband, Dr. Mark Freeman, our late founder of Old Dominion Family Dental. After her children left home for college, Christie began her career as a Dental Assistant at our office.
Our Front Desk

Rebecca
Rebecca and Doctor Freeman got married in 2015. They have two beautiful kids and a dog name Milton. Rebecca left her job as a school teacher to work for the practice full time as front of house operations. In her free time she loves working out and spending time with family.

Adrienne
Adrienne started working at our practice in February of 2018. Adrienne is very much a “people person” and loves interacting with all of our patients so that they feel welcome, comfortable and always see a smile when they walk in the door. At home she and her husband Ben, keep themselves busy trying to keep up with their 3 kids and 4 dogs and are always planning that ‘next’ Disney vacation.

Anita
Anita has been with Old Dominion Family Dental since July 2024. She’s the keeper of the schedule and our phones at the office! Anita, originally from West Virginia, enjoys spending time with her family and her dog.
